March 2025 - letter from the president

Dear Members and Friends of TechRochester,

I am thrilled to share some exciting updates and upcoming events as we celebrate significant milestones in our community.

Firstly, I want to extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the nominees for this year’s Technology Woman of the Year Award and Emerging Technology Woman of the Year Award! I had the privilege of attending this year’s nominee reception, which not only honored our current nominees, but also highlighted nominees and recipients for the past 25 years. It brought together the women who have contributed to the growth and technology advancements in Rochester. Their dedication and achievements continue to inspire and drive innovation in our region. The reception was a testament to the incredible talent and leadership within our community, and it was truly an honor to celebrate with you all.

Looking ahead, the Technology Woman of the Year Awards Committee, led by board member Paul Gebel, has been eagerly preparing for the upcoming 25th Anniversary of the Technology Woman of the Year award breakfast. This milestone event promises to be a remarkable celebration of women who have made extraordinary contributions to the field of technology. Tickets for this event are still available, but seats are filling up fast, so please CLICK HERE to view the event details and register to join us!

Our first “Made in ROC” event was held on Thursday, March 20th. Annette Warren, President of iSecure showcased her journey and growth in Rochester, starting as an internet and voice company and evolving into a world-class Cybersecurity company. We look forward to sharing more Made in ROC stories with all of you in the coming months!

I am delighted to welcome Sheila Herbert to our Board as the Director of Entrepreneurial Connections! Sheila brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to fostering connections and opportunities within our entrepreneurial ecosystem. Her leadership will undoubtedly enhance our efforts to support and elevate entrepreneurs across Rochester.

As we continue to grow and evolve, I encourage each of you to consider becoming more involved with TechRochester by joining our Board of Directors. If a board position is not right for you at this time, but you would like to get involved with TechRochester, please reach out to me at info@techrochester.org to learn about volunteer opportunities. Your insights and expertise are invaluable as we shape the future of our organization and empower our community through technology and innovation.

Thank you all for your continued support and dedication to advancing technology and innovation in our region. Together, we will build on our successes and create a vibrant future for TechRochester.

Warm regards,

Susan Kavanagh

President, TechRochester
