April 2025 - letter from the president

Dear Members and Friends of TechRochester,

As I write this message to you all, TechRochester has just wrapped up its 25th annual Technology Woman of the Year event. I am thrilled to share its tremendous success with you. This year, we celebrated not only the achievements of our outstanding honorees but also the resilience and innovation that define our vibrant community. Congratulations to all the finalists, and to our Emerging Technology Woman of the Year - Juniyali Nauriyal; and Technology Woman of the Year – Karla George.

The event was a true testament to the power of collaboration and leadership in the tech industry. We had the privilege of honoring remarkable women whose contributions have shaped and inspired our field. Their stories of perseverance and achievement serve as beacons of empowerment for all of us in TechRochester.

I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who made this event possible—the organizing committee – led by Board Member Paul Gebel, our generous sponsors, and each of you who attended and supported this celebration of excellence.

My term as President will be ending in August. As such, TechRochester has appointed a new President-Elect who will continue to carry out the mission and vision of the organization. I am thrilled to share with you that Greg Kauffman will be assuming the role of TechRochester President in September, 2025. You can learn more about Greg and his goals for leadership, in this month’s newsletter. Please join me in congratulating Greg!

We have many exciting events on the horizon. I hope you will consider attending a community event InnovateHER this Thursday, May 1. TechRochester is a proud sponsor of this event. InnovateHER will connect students with industry leaders in business and tech, fostering mentorship, providing inspiration, and creating networking opportunities. One of our main goals this year has been to find ways to better connect our member community. Whether you are an individual member or a Partner, TechRochester fosters connection and collaboration among companies, students, and tech professionals. We are excited to share that our TechRochester Member and Partner Portal is now live! This is a member-only benefit and we encourage all of our members to enter the online community and engage with one another. This is YOUR forum to network, share thought leadership and connect with one another. I look forward to “chatting” with you there!

As always, I thank you for your continued support of TechRochester and look forward to seeing you at an upcoming event!
